There's only a few days left until the full glory that is South by Southwest (SXSW) descends upon our hometown of Austin, Texas. Over the past few decades the annual gathering has brought together a motley crew of stylish musicians, eccentric techies and beatnik filmmakers for nine days of showcases, movie screenings, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
Outside all the panels, presentations and performances, a big highlight of SXSW is the opportunity for attendees to explore the city. We've put together a quick local's guide of some of the best spots to hit between venue hopping and perpetual rounds of BBQ, as well as some style tips that will keep you looking sharp until the final encore.
Seventh Flag Coffee
There's an abundance of quality coffee shops scattered throughout Austin, but our local favorite is Seventh Flag. Located on South 1st Street amongst some of the best food trucks in town, you'll find ample seating to catch up on some work before heading to your next showcase.
You'll find a healthy mix of festival-goers and remote workers here. Step up your everyday uniform of jeans and a t-shirt by pairing pieces in monochromatic colors for a casual-yet-still put together vibe.

Whether you're an official badge-toting attendee or plan on sneaking into any of the hundreds events around the city, don't let the stress of limited parking (and lack of UBER) distract you from enjoying the view Downtown ATX has to offer. Check out the Texas State Capitol building and the Frost Bank Tower to really soak in the skyline.
With events scattered throughout the city, there's no way around it, you're going to be on your feet all day, every day. Classic white high-top sneakers are polished enough to pair with an oxford button-down, but will keep you on your feet through the long days and late nights.

El Chilito: Modern Tex Mex
If there's one thing you're sure to learn after visiting Austin, it's that people are very passionate about their tacos. El Chilito serves up a modern take on contemporary Tex-Mex that is well worth the wait in line every time. Order the Tinga De Pollo and thank us later.
Temperatures in Austin fluctuate a lot in March, with highs in the upper 80's and lows dropping down to 50 degrees. Dress in light layers and invest in a quality, weather-proof bag to carry any pieces you shed throughout the day.
